Transformed from Death to Life, Marck 164/12/2009 In John 11, Jesus asks Martha if she believes in the resurrection at her brother death scene, she replies yes, but hardly understands the moment. She does believe that in the end, on “resurrection day,” as her heritage taught her, there would be a general resurrection. It was of little comfort for her in the immediate loss of her brother. She was pointing out to Jesus that she wished he had been there sooner so that her brother could have been healed. She knew Jesus as the healer of those brought to Him. Jesus gives her another look into who He is at this poignant moment. He declares that something of a cosmic scale is happening before her. He declares that the Day of the Lord, the day of resurrection, is standing right in front of her. “I am the resurrection and the life,” he declares. “He who believes in me shall never die.” She was staring eternity in the face. He would further solidify His role as God our savior by rising from the dead Himself. In His resurrection He settles our questions forever, we to shall live forevermore by believing in Him. Sunday, is living day as we celebrate the Risen Lord giver of life. Have you faith in Christ our Lord, the resurrected savior?
