Doing Something: Holy Obedience2/14/2010 W ho can ever forget General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain ordering a bayonet charge at Little Round Top during the battle of Gettysburg? His men running out of ammo and part of them separated, rather than ordering retreat and falling back, he gave his men the order to fix bayonet and charge into the oncoming confederate assault. His men, apparently not questioning his judgment, obeyed the order and saved themselves and many other men that day. It was of the more heroic acts on either side during a horrific war. Chamberlain and his men are forever remembered and he received the Medal of Honor. Did you ever consider that "Doing Something" and obeying our heavenly Master may just be another way of His saving us to a life that matters? Obedience, while difficult at times, leads to an enriched and fruitful life. I hope you can make it Sunday when Pastor Kevin explores the subject of Doing Something: Holy Obedience.
