Sermon: Do Something: Live Through the Pain2/21/2010 I think the hardest subject to address is the subject of pain and suffering. It is so multifaceted and layered that unwrapping it for us to understand is often difficult. I would compare it to trying to tell your child why they are not allowed to spend the night or play with certain people when they are young. You know why. You know you are protecting their heart most likely. You may not trust someone for some reason of your own discernment. You know that you couldn't explain that to a child, so you just trust saying "no." I firmly believe the mystery behind suffering is completely understandable to our Lord. He suffered Himself for world changing reasons. Sometimes we may be called on to carry a cross. It may be for our sake. It may be for someone else's sake. It may be to teach or correct us. It may be spiritual warfare as in Job. He proved himself and his faith in Yahweh. I hope to explore this more with you Sunday. One thing is for sure, as the pastor said where I was last week... His worst day was to bring us our best day. Glory to God in the highest!
