Resurrection: John 20: 1-18

4/8/2007

Dear friends,

What a privilege to write to you with Easter approaching this Sunday.  Anytime you’re writing a newsletter the week before Easter you run the risk of getting ahead of yourself and talking about resurrection on the Thursday of Holy Week.  The movement from the cross to the empty tomb is a picture of our conversion.  We too move from death to life.  We are called to put to death the old nature with it’s bent toward sinning and come to life in Christ Jesus.  My message for you today is a prayer: Lord, thank you for those with whom you have entrusted me as their pastor.  I pray that you will open our eyes today and let us see into the mystery of your passion and the glory of your resurrection and awaken anew within us, hope and trust.  We, like your first disciples, can be totally transformed by your power today.  Let it be unto us, oh Lord.  In the name of the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen!
