Patch it for Joy, Colossians 1:1-147/15/2007 Did you know that those little songs like ABC are complicated memory strategies called mnemonics employed by parents and teachers to permanently affect our future? Yea, we just thought it was fun to learn “Sam’s Horse Must Eat Oats.” We had know idea that it would linger with us for the rest of our lives and that we would forever be able to list the great lakes in order of their size (Superior, Huron, Michigan, Erie, and Ontario). Being able to call upon our memories can go way beyond trivial little facts that might get us onto the Jeopardy show. The scripture this week indicates that by recalling the Good News of Jesus Christ that changed our lives our hope and joy grows which motivates us to live holy. I hope to see you Sunday as we consider our motivation for Kingdom living.
