The Lord, He Will; Luke 18: 1-8

10/21/2007

Hey everyone,

I am changing gears this week.  I really hope our series on Sin was helpful for our walk with Christ in this world.  This week I want to turn our attention to Longsuffering or withholding our judgment.  Lydia and I have laughed watching different episodes of “Everybody loves Raymond” through the last few years.  One of the funniest episodes is called “getting back.” After Ray begrudgingly agrees to be the auctioneer at the Our Lady of Faith School auction for new playground equipment, he loves the laughs he gets at his wife, Debra's, expense. She warns him that she's going to get even, and then retracts her threat, but it's too late for Ray -- he's convinced of revenge and lives terrified of soda in his face, Ben Gay in his shorts or other sinister acts of “get back”. The thought of revenge is worse than the act.  Honestly, the thought of revenge is not as funny in real life.  It is easy in a world like ours to live with anger and the hope of exacting justice in every situation.  This week I want to focus on keeping ourselves in the right place.
