Sermon: Down Payment, Ephesians 1: 13-14

1/20/2008

We all have quirks in our personality.  I really wish I didn’t show mine all the time.  One little thing that bothers me is trusting people to get thinks right.  Let me elaborate, when ever I would book a room at a hotel I would call back a day or so later to check on my reservation.  I just feared getting to the beach or the smokies and being told they had no record of my reservation.  So, I would double check out of my anxiety.  Now they give us confirmation numbers and believe you me I carry mine with me.  That little number in my pocket is my comfort.  It is the assurance that I have a place to stay after traveling hours with kids on board.  The scriptures suggest that we need not travel this world without assurance.  In fact, our assurance of the presence of the Holy Spirit is essential to us as Christians.  It is one of the things to consider when I examine my faith in Christ.  This week I will preach on the assurance of our salvation.  I hope to see you at The Master’s Way.
