Sermon: The Big Give; 2 Corinthians 9:1-7

8/3/2008

I was interested to know how people spend their lives.  I read  where Gregg Easterbrook reported in The Progress Paradox that for a mere $75,000, a company called Jackson & Perkins will give a new rose variety the name of your choosing. They will then fly you and a companion to Los Angeles for a week that includes a fine dinner with the company’s plant breeders. Once the new hybrid blooms, they will ship 300 of them around the country to anyone you select, so that friends and family will be able to smell the rose that bears your name.  I know it sounds insanely decadent, but not everyone thinks so. More than 100 rose lovers have already spent over $75 million on this little gift.  Well what about our big give? I hope to see you Sunday.
