The Goodness of God, Psalm 68:411/23/2008 This week I wanted to spend time bragging on the goodness of God. I speak of the God of Scriptures. The God we find to be the one true God. I speak not of the little gods. These are in fact, not God at all. The Old Testament gives us a clear picture of the nature and character of the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David and Isaiah, not to mention others. The best reading of all Scriptures leads us to the simple truth of Psalm 68; the God we serve is good. I can never forget reading the story of Ned (I think that was his name..... remember I’m over 40). I saw it in one of Lydia’s readers Digest. He was on his way back from work one cold snowy evening and noticed a scary situation, a young boy had wondered out on to the ice overlaying a pond. People gathered and looked, Ned, up in age, laid himself on the ice and began crawling to t he child, he reach the child and started back when the ice broke through, he shoved the child free to scurry to safety, but Ned passed to the next life that day. He was the product of WWII, a child of the bombing raids in England where his parents took in refugees from London. His mother had explained that those who are strong must help those who are weak. He never forgot that lesson. Goodness is better seen, than explained. Come with thankful hearts.
