Praying Like Jesus; Matthew 6:7-15

A beautiful story is told of a man named Ivan.  He was enduring all the horrors of a Soviet Union prison camp. One day while praying with his eyes closed, a fellow prisoner notices him and says, "Prayers won't help you get out of here any faster." Ivan opening his eyes and answered, "I do not pray to get out of prison but to do the will of God."  It’s a fact that Jesus demonstrated and said on many occasions in the Gospel of John that He had not come to do His own thing, but the will of His Father.  Oh, to have that as our daily charge and the center of our prayers.  I hope to see you Sunday.
